Bank Connection Security
How BizBooks Pro securely connects to your bank using Stripe Financial Connections, and where your credentials are stored.
BizBooks Pro does NOT store your bank login credentials. Your bank username and password are entered directly into Stripe's secure widget and never touch our application.
How Bank Connection Works
BizBooks Pro uses Stripe Financial Connections, a secure bank connectivity service from Stripe (the same company trusted by millions of businesses for payment processing), to connect to your bank. Here's the process:
You Click "Link Bank with Stripe"
A secure popup window opens from Stripe (not BizBooks). This is Stripe's official widget running on their servers.
You Enter Your Bank Credentials
You log into your bank directly through Stripe's secure widget. Your username and password go straight to Stripe, encrypted, and are never seen or stored by BizBooks.
Stripe Returns an Account Reference
After successful login, Stripe gives BizBooks a secure account reference - an identifier that allows us to fetch your transactions through Stripe. It cannot be used to log into your bank or make transfers.
Transactions Sync Automatically
Using this token, BizBooks can securely fetch your transaction history for import into your accounting records.
Where Is Data Stored?
| Data Type | Where It's Stored | Security |
|---|---|---|
| Bank Username & Password | NEVER stored by BizBooks. You enter these directly into Stripe's secure widget. We never see them. | Not Applicable |
| Stripe Account Reference | Stored in our secure cloud database (Admin Panel). The actual bank connection lives with Stripe - we hold only an identifier. | Held by Stripe |
| Bank Name & Account Names | Stored locally on your computer (for display purposes only). | Non-sensitive metadata |
| Transaction History | Stored locally in your BizBooks database after you import. | Your local database |
Security Measures
-
🔐Bank Credentials Never Touch BizBooks Your bank username and password are entered directly into Stripe's secure, PCI-compliant widget. BizBooks never sees, transmits, or stores these credentials.
-
🔒Bank Tokens Stay with Stripe The credentials and tokens that access your bank are held by Stripe, not by BizBooks. Our servers store only an account identifier - even if our database were compromised, your bank connection could not be extracted from it.
-
🚫Read-Only Access The connection can only be used through Stripe's API to fetch transactions and balances. It cannot be used to log into your bank, make transfers, or perform any actions on your account.
-
📜Bank-Grade Encryption in Transit All communication with Stripe uses TLS encryption, and Stripe itself is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1 - the most stringent level of payment industry certification.
-
🔄You Control the Connection You can disconnect your bank at any time from within BizBooks. When disconnected, the access token is invalidated and can no longer be used.
